Iran has done most in humanitarian issues - ICRC head of mission

Head of the International Committee of the Red Crescent (ICRC) Mission Pierre Ryter said on Monday that 'in the humanitarian issues, the Islamic Republic of Iran has done most.'

Mr. Ryter made the remark while talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the Human Rights Day 2010 meeting with the theme 'The Review of Human Rights in the Current Times,' and with the slogan 'Speak Up: Stop Discrimination.'

This meeting started with the opening speech of Head of the Human Rights Council in Iran's Judiciary Mohammad-Javad Larijani.

Criticizing the West policies, Larijani said despite their claim to be the advocates of the human rights, the Western states defend terrorism. He further said they have opted for an anti-Islam approach to respect human rights which is a wrong policy.

The meeting of Human Rights Day 2010 was held in the capital city of Tehran on December 13 with participation of a number of foreign countries' representatives and human rights deputies.
