Iran-Oman hold joint naval relief, rescue drill

Iran and Oman started 2nd joint naval relief and rescue maneuver on Wednesday, ISNA reported.

The exercise included four Omani boats, two fighter planes and a coastal helicopter as well as four Iranian boats which was carried out in the regional and territorial waters of Oman.

The maneuver was held in presence and under supervision of the two sides' top officials of joint military committee and an Omani navy commander and aimed at readiness in providing relieving services, rescuing people, promoting levels of regional cooperation, exchanging relief experiences and training rescue and relief operations.

Based on mutual agreements, such practices will be held regularly and annually in Oman and Iran.

Iran-Oman third joint exercise will be staged next year under the supervision of Iran.
