Seven members of the Baha'i community were arrested during the recent rallies held in Tehran on Feb.14, Iranian javandaily.com website reported.
According to the website, "the arrested baha'is, instructed by Israel, played the main role in the unrest in Tehran, which broke out on Feb.14". They were detained by security forces during the rallies in Tehran.
According to the unofficial reports, although 300,000 baha'is live in the country, Iran does not recognize baha'i religion. Seven leaders of the Baha'i community in Iran are under arrest since 2009 and they were sentenced to 10 year imprisonment each.
Opposition Leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi called on the Iranian people to speak in support of the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia. During the rally held on Feb.14, two people died from bullet wounds. According to the opposition /kaleme.com/ website, more than 1,000 people went on the streets in the Shiraz and Isfahan cities. Police tried to disperse the demonstrators. The Iranian media outlets reported that nine policemen were injured in the rally.
