Dushanbe hosting Iran’s exclusive trade exhibit

Iran 's exclusive trade exhibition kicked off in Dushanbe on Thursday.

Some 15 Iranian and seven joint Iranian-Tajik companies have put on display their latest achievements in the fields of agriculture, handicrafts, petrochemical, pastries, carpets, construction materials and pharmaceuticals in the event.

Addressing the gathering, head of an Iranian marketing company, Mohammad Omrani said that the event seeks to develop cooperation between the two countries.

He also noted that his country has so far paved the ground for organizing several exhibits of Iranian goods in Algeria, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, IRNA reported.

Drawing the attention of the Iranian investors to the Tajik markets and creating new job opportunities in the country are among the other objectives of the exhibition, he said, noting, "We wish to help our Tajik brothers to be among the progressive nations in the region."

Stating that commercial exchanges of the two countries have increased by 60 percent last year, Omrani added that some 160 agreements in various fields have so far been signed between them.

Iran's International Commercial Exhibition will run until March 8.
