Zardari sends message to Ahmadinejad

Pakistan's interior minister is to arrive in the Iranian capital of Tehran to deliver a written message from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, PRESS TV reported.

Rehman Malik will arrive in Tehran at the helm of a high-ranking Pakistani delegation on Tuesday, Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

During his trip, the Pakistani interior minister will also hold talks with senior Iranian officials to discuss issues of mutual interest.

The visit comes as Tehran and Islamabad enjoy high political and economic relations.

Iran and Pakistan along with Turkey established the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in 1985.

The organization was expanded in 1992 to include seven new members -- Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

ECO is an intergovernmental regional organization which provides a platform to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation among member states.
