Iran's Energy Minister Majid Namjoo in, a meeting with his Turkey's counterpart here, discussed expansion of cooperation in the field of electricity, renewable and water energies, IRNA reported.
Namjo, who arrived in Turkey heading a high ranking delegation on Tuesday morning, attended the second international water assembly in Istanbul and then departed for Ankara to meet with his counterpart Taner Yildiz.
Iran's energy minister said that the two countries have noticeable capacities for cooperation in different fields of energy.
He also said there is an appropriate ground for cooperation in the field of energy transit; Iran can transfer extra electrical energy of its northern neighbors to Turkey or neighbors of Turkey a good pattern of which is to transfer Turkmenistan electricity to Turkey through Iran.
Referring to importance of the decision made in Tehran with Taner Yildiz concerning road map of energy cooperation between the two countries, Namjoo expressed hope that in this visit they can finalize the issue which would be a turning point in energy cooperation between them.
Yildiz, for his part, said that there are plenty of grounds for developing energy cooperation and Turkey is always ready to negotiate in this field.
Reminding good history of cooperation between Iran and Turkey in the field of oil and gas, he said that Iran, after Russia, is the second big supplier of gas to Turkey.
He added that Iran has rich energy sources and Turkey as a country with fast growing economy and increasing need for energy is a big consumer for energy.
The Turkey's minister also expressed pleasure with negotiation process between technical delegations of both countries which started yesterday in Ankara, and added that talks have been useful and the two sides' decision for forming technical committees is a big step.
It is expected that an agreement for drawing a road map of cooperation between the two countries in the field of water energy, electrical and renewable energies be signed here on Tuesday evening.
