Iran's Salehi to attend NAM meeting late May

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is to represent the country in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting in Bali, Indonesia, ISNA reported.

Salehi accompanied by an Iranian delegation is going to take part in the 16th NAM ministerial meeting in Indonesia.

The session runs on May 23-25 as Egypt holds the three-year rotating presidency of the movement.

Representatives of member states have already prepared communiqué draft of the ministerial meeting in New York. The content of which have been obtained from the draft statement of NAM foreign ministers' previous meeting which came in Sharm-el-Sheikh last June.

The document which is to be approved by chief diplomats in Indonesia involves 604 articles in three chapters.

The first chapter discusses boosting multilateralism, peaceful settlement of disputes, culture of peace and dialogue among cultures, religions, civilizations, condemning insult against religions, reforms in the UN and the Security Council, global nuclear weapons disarmament, annihilation of terrorism and NAM's role in the international scene.

The second chapter involves regional political issues in the Middle East (Palestine and Lebanon), Asia (Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria), Africa (Sudan and Somalia) and Latin American countries.

Also human rights, global financial turndown, trade and finance, food security, energy, health, fighting human smuggling, drugs, financial corruption, climate changes in the world, immigration and information technology are included in the third chapter.
