Iranian specialists have developed technologies to produce three types of sanctioned catalyst products, the IRIB News reported on Thursday.
On of these sanctioned catalyst products is dehydrogenation catalyst used in the production of light and heavy paraffins. This product will be used in the second shop of the Salman petrochemical plant.
The second "ABC" catalyst, which is used in the polyethylene production, will save $10 million for Iran as it will re-run the polyethylene production plant. This facility was forced to stop its operation six months ago due to the ban on import of this catalyst to Iran.
The third super-active catalyst "Iran", which is also used in the polyethylene production, has been produced in Iran for the first time.
Iran's refusal to abandon its nuclear activities has resulted in resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council in 2010, as well as additional unilateral sanctions approved by the U.S. Congress and the foreign ministers of all EU countries, which were primarily directed against the banking, financial and energy sectors of Iran.
