The Indian parliamentary speaker will visit Iran in the near future, Fars News Agency quoted Indian ambassador to Tehran Dinkar Prakash Srivastava as saying on Friday.

Srivastava noted that the speaker plans to come to Tabriz following his visit to Tehran.

He made the remarks at today's meeting with East Azerbaijan Province's Governor Ahmad Alireza Beigi.

Iran and India are interested in expanding the bilateral ties in the political, economic and cultural fields, as well as in establishing cooperation among the East Azerbaijan Province and some Indian provinces in the scientific economic and industrial areas, Srivastava added.

Iran is reportedly India's second biggest oil supplier after Saudi Arabia and exports about $12 billion of petroleum to Asia's third largest oil consumer.
