Iran says it will fight any threats with full force

Iranian armed forces will fight any threats with full force, deputy head of Iran's Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri told Mehr news agency.

Jazayeri was referring to the recent threats by the US and Israel against Iran, based on their allegation that Iran's nuclear program may include a covert military aspect.

Senior Iranian commander also noted that Iran's Armed Forces are prepared to respond twice as hard to any threats against Iran.

Iran argues that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

The Islamic Republic has also repeatedly clarified that its military might is merely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
