For the first time, drilling a delineation well will begin before a jacket is attached at Iran's South Pars gas field, Shana News quoted the National Iranian Drilling company (NIDC) representative Mohammad Reza Takaidi as saying.

Stormy weather and high sea had delayed the project. But the NIDC hopes that drilling work will begin this week, Mohammad Reza Takaidi said.

When drilling operations complete, two oil jackets will be attached and drilling will begin on 20 development wells and one evaluation well.

Pars Phase 14 is being developed by a consortium of eight Iranian companies Pars 2 area (Pars Kangan) in Iran-Qatar waters. The consortium is financing the $5.249 bln project.

That phase is projected to produce 50 mcm of sweet gas a day, 75,000 barrels of gas condensates, 1.05 m tons of liquid gas and a million ton of ethane to feed petrochemical units.
