Twenty four drilling rigs are operating in Iran's oilfields in the Persian Gulf and another one will be commissioned within the next few days, the Iranian Offshore Oilfields Company's managing director stated.
"Fourteen jack-up units are also in operation in the Persian Gulf waters," Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh told the Pana news agency.
The number of jack-up units will increase to 20 by the end of the next calendar year (March 2013), he added.
According to Iran's fifth five-year development plan (2010-2015), over $40 billion should be invested to drill 2,400 oil wells for producing one billion cubic meters of natural gas and five million barrels of crude oil.
