Iran condemns abduction of its pilgrims in Syria
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast condemned the abduction of 11 Iranian pilgrims in central Syria on Thursday, IRNA reported.
Mehmanparast called on Syrian officials to do their best for immediate release of the kidnapped Iranian nationals.
"According to reports, a total of 11 Iranian pilgrims who were on a pilgrimage journey to Syria by bus were kidnapped en route Halab to Damascus in central Syria on Thursday," he added.
Mehmanparast called such measures as contrary to moral and international commitments.
"Abduction of Iranian pilgrims is not justifiable and it is expected from the Syrian officials to take necessary measures for release of Iranian nationals," he added.
