Iran and Iraq will began a new round of talks on Feb. 6 to develop three joint oilfields, the Mehr news agency quoted Iranian Central Oil Fields Company Director Mehdi Fakour as saying on Monday.
The two neighboring states signed an agreement in December during the first meeting of the two countries' joint executive working group in Tehran.
The two sides will also discuss establishing a joint oil company in the near future.
To date, 23 oilfields have been discovered on Iran and Iraq joint border areas.
Meetings to finalize the start of work on one field should take place by early February. Iran has done the paperwork to create a joint company and Iraq is in the process of doing so.
Iran hasn't taken any suggestions about how to develop the fields off the table and decisions will be made after each country's share of the fields is decided.
While no definite figures have been set for the three fields, Fakour said no less than 30,000 barrels of oil a day will be produced.
Exploration work is being performed on a number of fields spanning the border.
Three joint oil fields -- Shahr, Dehloran and Paydar -- are in production.
