Iranian Agriculture Minister Sadeq Khalilian has predicted that the country's agriculture sector will grow by 9 percent in the next calendar year, starting on March 21, the Mehr news agency reported.
He added that the sector experienced the same growth in the past two years.
Some 11.4 trillion rials (around $900 million) was allocated to the agriculture sector in the current calendar year, he added.
Iran's agricultural output will reach 118 million tons by the end of the current calendar year, the deputy agriculture minister predicted.
The agricultural output includes animal, farm, fishery and garden products, Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht added, the IRNA news agency reported.
The volume of Iran's agricultural products stood at 108 million tons in the past Iranian year, the official noted.
The Iranian parliament (Majlis) approved a bill last year to ban imports of non-essential agricultural crops. According to the law, the importation of 49 agricultural products was restricted.
