Iran to launch domestically built Fajr satellite

Iran will launch its first domestically produced imaging satellite into space in the coming months, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

Work on the Fajr satellite is nearly complete and will be sent into a geostationary orbit during the first months of the New Year (Iran's solar year ends on March 20) Hamid Fazeli, president of the Iran Space Agency said.

It is expected the satellite will orbit 36,000 kilometres above earth for 18 months.
