Of the 35 sitting lawmakers who have been barred to run for the parliamentary election 5 were connected to the huge $2.6 billion financial fraud case, the Guardian Council revealed on Saturday, MNA reported.

Talking to reporters, Guardian Council spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodaii refused to disclose the names of the five MPs.

The first court session of $2.6 billion fraud case was held in Tehran on Saturday. The Arya Investment Company is at the center of the controversy.
