The date of the second round of parliamentary elections in Iran has been announced.

The second round is scheduled for May 4, Mehr news agency reported on Saturday.

Parliamentary elections in Iran were held on March 2.

Over 3,400 candidates competed in the parliamentary elections. The elections took place in 46,062 polling stations of 207 constituencies.

According to the Iranian media, 65 percent of eligible voters participated in the parliamentary elections in Iran. The second round of elections will be held in more than 30 districts, including in Tehran.

The parliamentary elections of the VIII convocation were held on March 14, 2008. Ali Larijani is the chairman of the Parliament which consists of 290 members.

The first meeting of the Iranian parliament is planned to be held on the seventh date of Khordad month 1391 in Islamic calendar (May 27, 2012).
