Iranian private companies and banks started using country's own domestic email service, Fars reported.

Islamic Republic's new email service is called "Chmail", and it has been developed by Iranian "Chaapaar" company. The company has been established in 2009 by young iranian engineers.

After Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and a few other foreign services have been banned in Iran, banks and companies have been urged to use Chmail, which is free.

Two months after testing Chmail, over 20 000 people registered at the new service.

Russia has a similar email service (chmail.ru), while Iran is using chmail.ir.
