Heavy rain that started yesterday in the city of Lengerud in the Iranian Gilan province destroyed several bridges and interrupted the communications of several villages with the city, FARS agency reported on Monday.
According to the report, as a result of the flood the water supply system went down and residential homes and commercial facilities suffered major damage.
Rescue operations are taking place at the scene of disaster, but to date no casualties are reported.
