Iranians will get good news in the near future about new airplanes being delivered to their country's fleet.
Transportation and Urban Affairs Minister, Ali Nikzad told the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) that 12 planes had been delivered to the country's fleet since 2011 and two new planes have been put into service within the last four months.
The efforts will be made to buy new planes for Iran, the minister said.
The average age of Iran's passenger air fleet is 22 years compared to 5-10 years for other countries.
Iran's fleet of passenger planes is old. It is difficult for the Islamic Republic to modernize it. The U.S. sanctions imposed against the country's aviation system have made it practically impossible for Iran to purchase new planes or even get spare parts for the available planes.
