Isfahan's Assembly of Labour Representatives has sent a letter to Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad asking him to help save 65,000 workers' jobs at a manufacturing company but to date hasn't received a reply.

The Giti Pasand Industrial Group, a private manufacturer of industrial products ranging from polymers to pipes, is facing liquidity problems over the raw materials it needs to continue operating, Fars news agency reports.

If production has to be scaled back at Giti Pasand, many of the 65,000 workers it employs directly and indirectly will face losing their jobs, said the head of Isfahan's Assembly of Workers' Representatives, Seyed Mohammad Yarahmadian.

Regarded as a model manufacturing unit and for five consecutive years as a model employer for supporting its workers, Giti Pasand has 5000 people working for it directly and could create 10,000 jobs this year if it could increase production.

Mr. Yarahmadian suggested that one way to help manufacturers who aren't helped by the banking system is to attract public's assets.

Administrators at Giti Pasand have written to President Ahmadinejad, the labour and industry ministers, the head of Iran's Central Bank, Isfahan's governor and banking officials asking for help. Although there have been meetings, nothing has been done to address the problem yet.
