Iran to build own helicopter
Azerbaijan, Baku, August 5 / Trend M. Moezzi /
Iran's first domestically built helicopter is scheduled to fly by the end of this Iranian year (March 2013).
The managing director for the Iran Helicopter Support and Renewal Company (PANHA) said the helicopter, called PANHA 1, is being built with the Isfahan University of Technology, IRIB News reported.
PANHA 1 is being built jointly by Iran's Defense Ministry and the Science, Research and Technology Ministry. Once the craft has been certified, it will begin production.
Building a prototype and meeting standards for two consecutive years is a world record said a PANHA official and the scientific calculations for building PANHA 1 have begun at Isfahan University of Technology.
The University has formed a committee to prepare the helicopter's design with working groups focused on structures, the body, mechanical calculations and design and dynamics. A part of Iran Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO), PANHA repairs the country's military and non-military helicopters.
