Iran's "Beytul Mugeddesh", "Ashura" and "Al-Zahra" battalions will hold massive exercises on defense all over the country, Iranian Basij forces deputy commander Nusretullah Seyf said, Fars reported.

The exercises are planned to be held throughout the country, after all exercises in the provinces of Iran are finished.

Seyf noted that today, the "Beytul Mugeddesh" battalions are holding the test exercises in Alborz and Tehran provinces, while tomorrow the real exercises will be hosted.

Seyf said these military exercises have been ordered by the Supreme Leader Imam Khamenei, to enhance Iran's defensive capabilities in case of an attack.

Basij forces deputy commander also said that the battalions will undergo special training processes with nocturnal tactics, both during day and night.

He added that thus far, similar exercises have already been held in Fars, Lorestan, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, and Ardabil provinces of Iran.

Earlier, commander of Iranian Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Mohammad Ali Jafari said that some 450 battalions were established to provide comprehensive defense in case of an attack on Iran.

Jafari did not disclose the number of soldiers in the battalion, yet he added that female battalions have been established as well, in case of emergency.
