An earthquake measuring 3.1 on Richter scale took place in the Iranian Bam city today, MEHR news agency reported.
According to the Seismological Center at the Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the earthquake took place at 02:33 (local time). No damage and injured is reported as a result of the earthquake.
Strong earthquakes often take place in Iran.
On Aug.11, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, killing more than 300 people and injuring about 2,500.
The strongest earthquake in recent period occurred in December 2003 in the city of Bam, located in the southeast of Kerman province. The earthquake killed 31,000 people, destroyed ancient fortress, built of clay.
