Iran will deliver the first domestically-made oil tanker, with the capacity of 113,000 tons, to Venezuela in 3 months.

The Aframax-category tanker, capable of carrying 113,000 tons of oil - the equivalent of 75,000 barrels - is worth 52 million euros and is the first of its kind which is built in the Middle East, the IRNA News Agency reported.

The oil tanker, which was ordered by Venezuela's state oil company (PDVSA) is 250 meters long, 44 meters wide and weighs 21,000 tons. It can carry 750,000 barrels of oil at a speed of up to 16 knots.

The two countries signed a 211-million-euro deal in January 2007. According to the contract, Iran accepted to build four oil tankers for Venezuela.

The Iranian Sadra Shipbuilding Company is in charge of constructing the tankers.

The company's managing director, Mehdi Etesam, said in August that the project has so far progressed by around 45 percent, the ISNA news agency reported.
