Iranian judiciary said the US has denied visas to an Iranian delegation that was preparing to visit New York to take part in a session of the United Nations third committee, IRNA reported.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Human Rights Headquarters of the Iranian Judiciary said that the US act of denying visas to the Iranian delegation proves that America is misusing its position as the host of the international organization.
Noting that the delegation intended to outline Iran's views on human rights issues in the UN third committee, the statatement said that the US administration vividly barred Iran's participation in the meeting by denying it visas thus depriving the delegation members of the chance of fulfilling their mission of promoting interaction and cooperation within the United Nations.
In the statement, the Human Rights Headquarters of the Iranian Judiciary called on the chairman of the UN General Assembly, the UN Secretary General and the chairman of the UN third committee to caution the US government against such decisions and explain to Washington officials the importance of their sticking to their commitments as the host country of the meeting.
