Over 70 workers of Ahvaz Sugar Factory staged another protest on Sunday in front of Ahvaz governor's office, demanding their wages and pensions.

According to Houshang Taheri, a member of Islamic Labor Council of Ahvaz Sugar Factory, the workers haven't been paid for over 25 months, the ILNA News Agency reported.

"The workers' health insurances have not been renewed for ten months, therefore the workers and their families are facing a lot of difficulties," Taheri said.

"The workers seeking retirement are also being denied because health insurance dues have not having been paid," he explained.

Ahvaz Sugar Factory workers have staged a number of protests in the recent months but they say the authorities never give them satisfactory responses.

It was announce in December that a labor committee will be formed in the Governor's office to determine the exact ownership of the factory and following that the workers could take legal action to pursue their demands.
