Starting from tomorrow, the ticket prices for inner routes in Iran's Tehran province will increase, ISNA news agency reported.

The prices will increase by 20 percent, according to the United Bus Company of Tehran (UBCT).

Previously, the rise in ticket prices in Tehran was observed back in 2011.

During the 2011 rise, the ticket prices for government-owned buses in Tehran province increased by 420 rials, ticket prices for minibuses increased by 2,000-3,500 rials, and the ticket prices for private sector-owned buses increased by 250-500 rials.

Development Commission of the City Council of Tehran has said that the worth of one ticket is about 4,800 rials.

Of that ticket price, 3000 rials are paid by government and the mayor, as subsidies to people. Each year, about $200 million are subsidised by government.

In Iran people use public transport, namely buses, with special cards, that are processed through terminals, installed at bus stations. The other way of using the bus service is by buying tickets.
