The EU's former foreign policy Chief Javier Solana has suggested that Iran and US to create communication channel for proceeding negotiations, during his interview with ISNA news agency.

The solutions should be agreed by UN secretary council and EU, because they also have important roles in the negotiating process, he added.

Reaching an international agreement is necessary because Iran's nuclear issue is important for the international community, Solana said.

He underlined that, Rouhani`s election as president is the opportunity for achieving a solution on Iran's nuclear issue.

Rouhani can make decisions because he has mass support of his voters, Solana added.

"I have no authority, but still have the influence which can be used for proceeding the negotiations," he said.

"Rouhani that I know is intellectual and smart. Rouhani is someone with whom one can negotiate. He understands his counterpart's viewpoints intellectually and this is very important for negotiations," Solana added.

He underlined that the failures in negotiations in past is the most important lesson for future negotiations.

It should be recalled that Solana previously said in an interview with Iranian Shargh newspaper that Rouhani is someone with whom one can come to an agreement.

Solana was the special guest of Rouhani`s swearing ceremony which was held on August 4.

On August 3, Rouhani met with the Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who officially endorsed Hassan Rohani as the country's new president for a four-year term.

On 14 June 2013, Hassan Rouhani won the presidential elections in Iran, gathering over 50 percent of total votes.

Rouhani previously said that he will work towards the removal of western sanctions, adding that his government will adopt moderate policies and actions.
