Iranian consulate in Afghanistan's north-western Herat city have been seriously damaged due to attacks by protesters, Mehr news agency reported citing an "informed" source in Iran's Herat consulate.
According to the report protesters gathered in front office of Herat Governor in the morning today, and then attacked the consulate.
He also said that embassy staff are not among victims, adding that, "we have no information if someone has been killed among protesters."
Three people were killed and several were injured in the attack, ITAR-TASS reported earlier with reference to Xinhua news agency.
According to Mehr, the protesters said the reason for attacking the consulate was due to Iranian visa policies. Apparently, the protesters have been having problems with receiving visas for visiting Iran.
