Iran’s Majlis speaker: Diplomatic negotiations should be in line with Leader’s guidelines

Any step of Iranian diplomats should be taken in line with the Supreme Leader's guidelines, IRNA quoted Iranian parliament (Majlis) speaker Ali Larijani as saying.

Some people may think that facilitating diplomatic relations will help to ease economic tensions in the country, but the fact is that the more the internal power of the country is increased, the more the diplomatic costs are decreased, Larijani said, while referring to the leader's recent statements about negotiations between Iran and the U.S.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Iran doesn't trust the United States, which doesn't keep its promises, yet we believe in our own diplomats.

Khamenei made the remarks during his speech at the graduation ceremony of Iran's military students.

"We support President Hassan Rouhani's diplomatic moves, as diplomacy is important," Khamenei said. "We support the developments of the New York visit, despite the fact that some issues were not very suitable."

Khamenei went on to add that Iran trusts the diplomats of Rouhani's administration, underscoring that the U.S. administration is "under influence of international zionism".

Some forces in Iran were negative towards Hassan Rouhani's approach to talks with the U.S. president and its stance on country's nuclear program.

For example, commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari called Rouhani`s phone conversation with his US counterpart as a tactical mistake.

Later, extremist groups in Iran held protests against Rouhani upon his arrival in Tehran from New York. The protesters threw shoes at Rouhani.
