Greek charge d'affaires summoned to Iranian Foreign Ministry

The Greek charge d'affaires was summoned to Iran's foreign ministry on Dec. 21, in protest at a secret meeting between European Union parliamentary delegation with two Iranian dissidents in Tehran, IRNA news agency reported on Dec. 22.

The meeting was held in the Greek Embassy in Tehran.
European Union parliamentary delegation who visited Tehran recently met with Jafar Panahi and Nasrin Sotoudeh, the 2012 winners of the EU's Sakharov.

They both had been convicted to terms of prison due to involvement in anti-government protests in Tehran following 2009 presidential elections.

According to the Iranian foreign ministry Website, the Greek charge d` affaires was summoned and was told that Iran is dissatisfied with the EU parliamentary delegation move.
The charge d` affaires was also told that Tehran sees the act as "contrary to goodwill" and that Iranian Embassy in Brussels had warned the European delegation about such a meeting prior to their visit to Tehran.

Earlier some Iranian MPs criticized the foreign ministry for the meeting, asking the ministry to explain over EU Parliamentarians trip to Iran.
