Russian security official to visit Iran Tuesday
Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov is scheduled to visit Iran on Tuesday to discuss a number of issues with senior Iranian officials, PressTV reported.
He is scheduled to meet with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during his stay in the Iranian capital Tehran.
Ivanov will exchange viewpoints on the ongoing developments in the region, particularly the Syrian conflict, with Iranian authorities.
Syria has been gripped by deadly crisis since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced due to the turmoil that has gripped Syria for nearly three years.
