Head of the department for drug trafficking of Iranian Police in the country's Iranshahr city, was killed today, Iranian IRNA news agency reported on Feb. 26.
The news report did not disclose the name of the police official, who was killed during the shootout, which occurred in the Kheyrabad village, near Iranshahr.
The report also said that two drug traffickers were also killed as a result of the shootout, which still continues, as of 0400 GMT.
IRNA also reported on Feb. 25 that Iranian police got into another shootout with drug traffickers in the city of Shiraz. Four drug traffickers and two policemen were killed.
