Senior Iranian commander claims that the country's army is monitoring all regional and trans-regional developments continuously.

Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said that the army is ready to respond to all threats, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported on April 15.

Pourdastan also said that Iran's armed forces will not ever be caught off guard.

In recent days Iranian army was criticized on the abducted border guards' issue.

Five Iranian border guards were kidnapped on Feb. 6 in the Jakigour region of the Iran's south eastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan by Jaish al-Adl group.

On March 23, Jaish al-Adl tweeted that it has hanged Jamshid Danayeefar, one of the five kidnapped guards.

The group released the other guards on April 4.

The video released by Jaish al-Adl, showed that all of the border guards were sleeping when their tent was overrun.

Several military commanders have been dismissed from the service and others were sent to face court proceedings due to their "negligence after five Iranian border guards were abducted."
