Commander: Iranˈs armed forces fully ready to foil enemiesˈ threats
Lieutenant Commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami lauded the preparedness of the Iranian Armed Forces to foil the enemiesˈ possible threats, and said no foreign state dares to attack the country, IRNA reported.
ˈWe are more powerful than any other time in Iranˈs history and we will pave this way powerfully and firmly,ˈ Brigadier General Salami said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran.
Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.
Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the countryˈs military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.
