Iran is hopeful that Russia will cut its daily oil output as discussed between the OPEC and Moscow.

“The OPEC has proposed some non-members such as Russia to lower their production rate, according to which we hope to reach a common understanding in the coming months,” Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said, Mehr news agency reported October 23.

“We hope some non-members will support OPEC’s recent decision on production rates,” he stated.

Zanganeh made the statement one day after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro visited Tehran and discussed issues including the oil market with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani.

Ayatollah Khamenei told Maduro that a fall in oil prices was a "tool for pressuring countries that are independent of the United States", the Islamic republic's arch-enemy.

Rouhani told Maduro that "Iran supports any action in line with the stability of the oil market, a fair price and a fair share (of production).”
