Iranian bank sees surge in int’l transactions

The value of international transactions at Exports Development Bank of Iran has dramatically increased over the current fiscal year (starting March 20).

The value of international transaction through the bank has reached $5.5 billion, Ali Salehabadi, CEO of Export Development Bank of Iran, told reporters on Feb. 4.

According to the CEO, the figure has increased by 80 percent as compared to the same time of last year.

This is while the number of transactions has jumped by 83 percent to hit 6,939, he added.

The CEO added that his bank seeks to contribute to the development of exports of Iran according to the country’s macroeconomic policies.

Iran’s non-oil exports, including gas condensate, reached $35.61 billion during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

The figure indicates a fall by 2 percent, as compared to the same period of the preceding year, according to Iran’s Customs Administration data.

The volume of the exported goods reached 99.31 million tons in the 10-month period, 7 percent less year-on-year.
