Iranian industry minister briefs on mining projects

State mines and metals holding company IMIDRO Chairman Mehdi Karbasian has said that the country launched mining projects worth $4.5 billion over the last fiscal year, which ended on March 21.

Addressing the workers of IMIDRO, he added that the country is expected to launch mining projects worth $1.5 billion this year.

The mining sector registered highest growth among the sub-sectors of Iran’s non-oil economy in the last fiscal year (starting March 21) in terms of value of exports.

Iran exported mineral products worth $1.937 billion during the first 11 months of last year period, registering a 60.3-percent increase year-on-year.

However, the volume of the exports (26.021 million tons) was 0.7 percent less as compared to the 11-month period of the preceding year.

In total, the country exported industrial products worth $14.64 billion during the 11-month period, equal to 35 percent of the country’s overall non-oil exports.
