Trend:

The head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi has indicated that the European Union Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) would be completed by the end of 2018, Trend reports, citing ILNA.

"It's been a long time that the Europeans have remained committed to solving the void in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and providing economic profit to Iran, according to the agreement," Salehi told reporters.

"One of their solutions is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which according to them is in its final stages of completion," he added.

"They have told us, it is not an easy task to create consensus between 27 countries over this issue since the US is making all the efforts to prevent EU's success in operating the plan," he said.

Salehi went on to add that his colleagues, including the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are in contact with the European officials on the issue.

"Due to their promise we hope to see the launch of SPV before the New Year," he said.

"Of course Brussels and the European Commission have stated that Europe has plan to use euro for oil transactions with other countries if the volume is more than €300 billion," he said.

"This is a big event that means EU plans to import oil from all over the world by paying 85 percent of its payment in euro instead of U dollar, if it happens, it would put the US dollar in a difficult situation and the US would be isolated," Salehi added.

"The Europe suggestive package is being amended by our friends in Iran and we are frequently consulting each other," he said referring to the possibility of Iran dissatisfaction with that EU package.
