Iran's Health and Medical Education Minister has asked the government to allocate 250 million euros to fight coronavirus, said Iran's Minister of Health Saeed Namaki, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to Namaki, there is an urgent need in about 20,000 hospital beds as well as for medical uniforms, masks and medical supplies.

Namaki added that about 600 million euros were allocated at the time of the spread of the H1N1 flu and during spring floods in the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019).

The minister said that following the announcement of coronavirus (COVID-19) in China, the Iranian Health Ministry has spent the bulk of that money on the import of medicines to combat COVID-19.

Iran is one of the countries heavily affected by the rapidly-spreading coronavirus. According to recent reports from the Iranian officials, over 14,900 people have been infected, 853 people have already died. Meanwhile, over 4,900 have reportedly recovered from the disease.

The country continues to apply strict measures to contain the further spread. Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease.

Following the reports of coronavirus spread in the Islamic Republic, several countries have taken measures, including closing borders and banning flights.

The Islamic Republic only announced its first infections and deaths from the coronavirus on Feb. 19.

İranın səhiyyə, müalicə və tibbi təhsil naziri hökumətdən koronavirusla mübarizə məqsədilə 250 milyon avro vəsaitin ayrılmasını istəyib.

Bu İranın səhiyyə, müalicə və tibbi təhsil naziri və İranın Koronavirusla Mübarizə Milli Komitəsinin sədri Səid Nəməkinin İran prezidenti Həsən Ruhaniyə ünvanladığı məktubda öz əksini tapıb. Bu barədə Trend nazirliyə istinadən məlumat verib.

S.Nəməkinin sözlərinə görə, təxminən 20 min çarpayı və tibb işçisi üçün tibbi geyim, maska və tibbi ləvazimata təcili ehtiyac var.

Nəməki əlavə edib ki, cari İran ilində (21 mart 2019-dan başlayaraq) payız fəslində H1N1 qripinin yayıldığı vaxtda və digər sahələrə (yaz fəslində baş verən sel və daşqınlara görə) 600 milyon avro vəsait ayrılmışdı.

İranlı nazir bildirib ki, Çində yeni koronavirusun yayılması ilə bir ay öncədən həmin vəsaitin (600 milyon avro) əsas hissəsi ilə bu virusla əlaqədar dərman preparatlarını idxalına sərf olunub.

Qeyd edək ki, İran Səhiyyə, Müalicə və Tibbi Təhsil Nazirliyi ötən günədək (16 mart) 14 991 nəfərin yeni koronavirusa yoluxduğunu, 853 nəfərin öldüyünü, 4 996 nəfərin sağaldığını təsdiqləyib.
