Smuggled foreign brands are being sold in Iran, on the pretense of domestic products, said director general of Textile and Clothing Department in the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Foreign brands should register their companies at the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade and signed contracts with Iranian manufacturers to produce clothing items domestically, Afsaneh Mehrabi noted.
So far only one foreign brand has registered its imported inventories in Iran. The smuggled clothing items are imported to Iran via free zones.
Iran continues the import ban on clothes, shoes, and other related items in the textile industry due to foreign currency limitations.
