BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. The export of steel products by Iran's Mobarakeh Steel Company has increased by 17 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023) until now (March 17, 2024), compared to the same period last year, the company's Executive Director Mohammad Yasir Tayyibnia said, Trend reports.
According to him, 1.4 million tons of products from Mobarakeh Steel Company were exported during the mentioned period.
Tayyibnia said that since the beginning of this year, the company has sold more than 7.3 million tons of products on the local market. The volume of products sold by the company increased by four percent compared to the same period last year.
"In general, from the beginning of this year until now, Iran's Mobarakeh Steel Company has exported 8.7 million tons of products to the local and foreign markets. As a result, the weight of the company's products has increased by six percent compared to the same period last year," he explained.
Additionally, the statistics of the Iranian Steel Producers Association showed that during 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024), Iran exported 7.1 million tons of crude steel worth $3.43 billion. Iran's crude steel exports increased by 5.7 percent in value and 7.4 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
To note, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
