BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. Facilities were put into use at ports in six provinces of Iran, Trend reports via the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.
Today, an event was organized in the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran regarding the commissioning of port facilities. Iran's Road and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash and other officials attended the event.
150 trillion rials (about $405 million) were spent on 27 facilities in the ports located in Iran's Hormuzgan, Khuzistan, Bushehr, Sistan and Baluchistan, Mazandaran and Gilan provinces.
The construction of 23 facilities at ports in the six provinces mentioned has started today. A total of 570 trillion rials (about $1.54 billion) is expected to be spent.
The current capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the capacity of ports by 500 million tons.
