BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Iran and Iraq have signed new documents aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy and oil during a meeting held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on April 14, Trend reports via Iraq’s Ministry of Oil.
The documents were signed following discussions between Iraq’s Minister of Oil Hayyan Abdulghani and Iran’s Minister of Oil Mohsen Paknejad.
The statement emphasized that both sides explored mechanisms for cooperation across the entire energy sector and underlined the importance of knowledge-sharing and joint initiatives.
During the meeting, Abdulghani stated that Iraq offers promising opportunities for investment in the gas sector and is working toward achieving full self-sufficiency in the production of oil products.
The Iranian oil minister made it clear that nurturing the blossoming relationship between Iran and Iraq in every nook and cranny is a top-notch priority that holds strategic weight.
To note, Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad departed for Iraq today, April 14, for a two-day visit. As part of the trip, he is scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Electricity.
