Funeral procession held for Iran's late justice minister

(IRNA) - A funeral procession was held here Saturday morning for Jamal Karimi-Rad, the late justice minister who was killed in a road accident Thursday evening.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel and several other senior officials attended the funeral procession.

Cabinet ministers, a large group of MPs, and members of the Experts Assembly were also among those who joined the procession, reports Trend.

The body of Karimi-Rad will be transferred to his home town Qazvin.

The late Iranian justice minister was on Saveh-Arak road to the central city of Isfahan when his car slipped on the icy road and was hit by a truck in the back Thursday evening.

Karimi-Rad's wife and his two sons, who were accompanying him in the trip, survived the accident and were transferred to a hospital in Qom.

Karimi-Rad, 50, had been a minister in President Ahmadinejad's cabinet since 2005. He had also been Judiciary spokesman for three years.
