(IRNA) - Iran's former president and head of the International Center for Dialogue Among Civilizations Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Khatami who has attended the World Economic Forum in the Swiss ski resort of Davos called on Thursday all engaged parties in Iran's peaceful nuclear dossier to exercise self-restraint.

Addressing a meeting dubbed as "Iraq and the Future of the Middle East Region", he said, "I hope the negotiating parties will adopt a good stance in their decision-making."

The issue requires patience, mutual understanding, and avoidance of any emotional act, he said, reports Trend.

Khatami backed the idea of talks between Iran and the US proposed by an expert group in the forum, advising to replace the tension with negotiations with Iran and Syria on Iraq crisis.
