Iran's Ambassador in Lebanon meets UN Secretary General's envoy

(www.irna.ir) вЂ" IRI Ambassador in Lebanon met and conferred with UN Secretary General's Envoy Soren Petersen.

The two sides during the meeting reviewed the regional developments, the latest status in Lebanon, and Iran's nuclear program, emphasizing need for continuous talks aimed at solving Lebanon's internal political crisis.

The UN Sec Gen representative also appreciated our country's efforts aimed at ushering peace and stability in Lebanon and the region, expressing hope that the joint Tehran-Riyadh efforts in that regard would lead to a compromise among involved parties at Lebanon's political scene, reports Trend.

Iran's Ambassador Mohammad-Reza Sheybani who had earlier stressed the need for reaching a comprehensive national consensus among various Lebanese personalities and religious sources, during this meeting, too, once again repeated Tehran's proposal in that respect.

Sheybani also emphasized the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program in his meeting with Petersen, adding, "Politicizing such a technical and national issue has been a grave mistake, taken place due to incessant US intrigues."

Petersen, too, said at the meeting the UN Secretary General and he believe that resuming negotiations is the only rational way of the present stand still on Iran's nuclear dossier.
