The fourth Iran-Turkey industrial and trade cooperation conference was held in Ankara.

The conference aimed to introduce investment opportunities to Iranian and Turkish industrialists and traders, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on October 24.

Representatives of more than 50 Iranian private sector companies, managers of tens of Turkish companies, and national officials from the two countries attended the conference.

Alireza Bigdeli, the Iranian ambassador to Turkey, said on the sidelines of the conference that three delegations from the Iranian private sector have traveled to Turkey during the current week.

In April, Bigdeli said Iran and Turkey have set a target for nearly $16 billion in the volume of their bilateral trade transactions during the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21).

Bigdeli added that Iran-Turkey trade turnover stood at $1.2 billion in the first quarter of the year 2014 given the released monthly reports, adding that the figure would rise to $20 billion once a preferential trade agreement signed by the two countries is enforced.

Iran and Turkey have signed a preferential trade agreement in January 2014, which could pave the way for a hike in the bilateral trade.
